hi there! i’m KEVIN FOURNIER. i’m A MUSICIAN AND EDUCATOR FROM NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIO.

I BEGAN my JOURNEY IN MUSIC AT AGE NINE ON THE DRUMS AND BY my TEENS i WAs PLAYING IN ORIGINAL BANDS IN THE NIAGARA PUNK/METAL SCENE, GAINING VALUABLE EXPERIENCE IN LIVE PERFORMANCE, STUDIO RECORDING AND COMPOSITION.

I later ATTENDED MOHAWK COLLEGE WHERE I STUDIED MUSIC, majoring in contemporary/jazz drum set.

AFTER GRADUATING, I BEGAN TEACHING youth BANDs AND one on one LESSONS at various music schools around hamilton such as: the HAMILTON CONSERVATORY FOR THE ARTS, STUDIO E, CULTURE FOR KIDS IN THE ARTS AND THE ONTARIO CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC. I ALSO BEGAN TAKING PRIVATE STUDENTS AT my HOME WHERE I FOUND my PASSION FOR delivering SPECILAIZED MUSIC EDUCATION AND INNOVATING my TEACHING METHODS to go beyond the limitations of traditional music schools.

eventually I WENT ON TO PLAY DRUMS FOR CARNIVAL CRUISE Lines AND GAINED EVEN MORE EXPERIENCE AS A PROFESSIONAL MUSICIAN, playing popular music from all the major eras and genres, all over the world.

In addition to playing and teaching the drums, I’m ALSO AN EXPERIENCED SONG WRITER/COMPOSER, HAVING BEGUN THAT JOURNEY AT AGE 14. I NOW PRODUCE my OWN MUSIC UNDER THE NAME STRICT MONTH IN WHICH I WRITE, PERFORM and record music totally INDEPENDANTLY. I want to offer aspriing song writers the opportunity to come learn about the art in my studio where we will work towards recording your very own song.

MY MISSION IS TO COMBINE my SKILLS as a musician WITH my passion for being a good COMMUNICATor TO CONNECT WITH MUSICIANS OF ALL AGES AND SKILL LEVELS. FROM THE BASICS OF PLAYING TO CONCEPTUAL DEEP DIVES, to recording sessions, I have something to engage anyone with a desire to learn about music.

A UNIQUE APPROACH

I created FLOW state music school out of a passion for delivering the absolute best possible experience in music education; Friendly, Patient, approachable, clearly explained, innovative and inspiring. I understand that being a great teacher also means being a great problem solver, entertainer, planner, arm-chair therapist and motivational speaker. it also means constantly growing and evolving to meet the growing and evolving needs of each student.

offering a variety of course options for everyone from absolute beginners to experienced musicians and tailored to all ages, I feel that I have tapped into a teaching method that will benefit everyone.

if you’re just starting out and your goal is to play a few rock beats to your favourite songs, I have a path to get you there that will engage and inspire you along the way.

If you are a working musician who has been hung up on a technical issue, I will help you to identify your road blocks and systematically work through them.

If you’re like a lot of musicians and you struggle with how you view yourself as a player, I will listen with an empathetic ear and help to guide you towards a more optimistic outlook.

if you’re an information junkie and you enjoy deep dives into specific or niche subject matter, i’ll go down the rabbit hole with you to explore the nitty gritty aspects of music you’ve always wondered about. from technique, to writing original parts, to music history, to how to function as a band member, to habit building and efficient practice and anything else you might be curious about, I will feed your curiosity.

my in person learning space, located in niagara falls, ontario is lovingly set up to maximize enjoyment and learning. with two electronic drum sets, Acoustic drum set, guitar/bass/keyboards/ukulele, recording studio capability and cameras connected to large screens to monitor form in real-time and capture performance- there is no aspect to your development that has been overlooked.
